Born in Kapuskasing Ontario with two older brothers and an older sister, I guess started me off on the right foot. I remember going sucker fishing in the spring and walking a bait line that my brother had for bears when I was almost too young to remember . Unfortunately we moved to southern Ontario when my brothers were old enough to stay on their own up there.
Those early years were extremely formative to who I would become. The Call of the north would always be in my ears and after a few short jaunts back up to work with the Natural Resources, I finally found myself, with my new wife Louise and our very first child Erica in Timmins, back up north working in the mines, and it felt great!
I have always been avid in the outdoors, but the move back north solidified it. I obtained 4 registered traplines during those years and covered literally hundreds of square miles on the traplines and bear management areas, that I would guide on, along with a few moose hunts that required a guide as well.
It was in Timmins that our immediate family had grown to 4 with the addition of Kelly. It was this time that a true love for bowhunting , took the whole family by storm. It was bowhunting that began the growth of our extended family. A group of great people that our girls have literally grown up with and are very much a part of our family.
Over the years, I’ve managed to take a fair number of moose, deer, bear, turkeys, small game and even timber wolf with my bow. I was primarily a traditional bowhunter, interspersed with a year here and there shooting a compound. It wasn’t until I sustained a life changing injury that I was forced to give up the traditional bow and revert to the compound, which I love to this day.
I have been a registered International Bowhunter Instructor, licnesed trapper, bear guide, moose guide and now a producer with Canada’s hunting family comprised of two great kids, a fantastic wife, and the best friends money could ever buy.
